Babaza Foundation Trust Primary School

A comprehensive survey was conducted by the Education Coordinator and the trustees in various localities of Karachi between 2004 to 2005; some areas were saturated with charitable organizations offering their services. The low-income community of Korangi was identified as a suitable area to provide services, as the community members were mainly low-income labourers, in nearby Industrial areas or vendors of small businesses and unemployed persons.

The BFT Primary School was established in 2006 in Korangi in a rented premises in Zaman Town Sector 35 A. The enrolment in the inception year was of 45 children and over the years until 2012 the school was at its maximum capacity of 250 students.

In realization of the increasing request of the members of Korangi community for enrolment of their children’s education at BFT, the trustees envisioned the need to establish a purpose built school; the search began to look for a suitable plot within the proximity of the existing school. In 2012, a plot of 1200 sq. yards was purchased and the project of constructing a 40 classrooms building commenced. A well know architect, Asad I. A. Khan was consulted and commissioned to design the building. The purpose built school was completed in July 2014.

The school commenced at the new premises in August 2014 providing education from Nursery to Class V. The student strength gradually increased over the years and today it proudly provides education to over 450 students.

We encourage newly graduated girls to work at the school and provide them with adequate training and skills in learning and teaching pedagogies. This also provides them with empowerment by earning a reasonable income supplementing their family incomes.

Staff development program is a primary objective of BFT School, the teachers are sent to Teachers’ Resource Centre (TRC) for subject-wise learning and certification. Informal Training is conducted periodically by our trustee, Mrs. Azra Raza, who has a vast experience in education for over 34 years.

In 2018, TRC was assigned to conduct a ‘School Evaluation’. She sent a good Evaluation Report and recommendations for improvement. The recommendations were reviewed by the Board of Trustees and implementations of the suggestions were undertaken.
